MY story

Janis shares her enthusiasm for MYLead with her daughter, Rachel, who attended the 2006 conference.  Following her daughter’s example of serving her community and encouraging others to do the same, she was inspired to volunteer with MYLead. They both remain active with the organization today.

Leadership

Janis began volunteering with MYLead by making recruitment calls to schools to increase participation, then became a group facilitator for two years.  Seeing first-hand the positive impact the conference has on Michigan’s youth, she accepted the position of Corporate Board Secretary and Alumni Advisor for the MYLead Achievement Program, MYLead’s alumni organization.   

Employment

Janis is employed as an executive assistant at Flagstar Bank.  Throughout her career at Flagstar,  Compuware Corp. and Delta Dental Plan of Michigan, she has enjoyed meeting many people with different interests and backgrounds.  She considers her job of wife and mother to be the most important job she’s ever held!   

Academics

Janis graduated from Madison High School and took courses at Oakland Community College.

Daily routine

Raising a family, working and volunteering keeps Janis busy, but her favorite past-time is watching her daughters mature and looking for the humor in every day life.
