MY story
I am 25 years old, living in Grand Blanc with my husband Mike and almost one year old daughter Hannah. Outside of work and MYLead I spend most of my time with family and friends. My favorite hobby is skiing even though I do not get to go as often now. We also think it is very important for Hannah to travel since it is something Mike and I love to do. She took her first plane ride at 4 months old. I take pride in every aspect of my life whether it is being a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a granddaughter, a niece, a cousin, a friend, an employee, or a volunteer, I make sure that I am always involved and make an impact on so many different peoples lives.
Leadership
I have been involved with MYLead since its inseption. I have previously been a TA, GF Director, and now co-chair. I am also the MYLead representative to our national organization, National Society of Youth Leadership (NSYL). I think a major part of leadership in my life is through MYLead. But I would also have to say I am also a leader at work, at home, and so many other areas of my life.
Employment
I am a National Account Executive for a publisher in Flint MI, PrintComm. We publish state home builder magazines for various state builder associations around the US. My time is filled with leading the marketing and advertising for three magazines in New York, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. I also work on a builder profile article for these three states including the state of Pennsylvania. For these publications I also attend many events across the US several times a year to help the state associations promote their publications as well as our publisher.
Academics
I graduated from Clio High School in 2001. I attended Western Michigan University from 2001 – 2005. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and minors in creative writing and Spanish.
Daily routine
I have two daily routines. My weekday and my weekend. During the week my daily routine begins at 6:30 am and consists of getting up and getting Hannah and I ready for the day. I then drop Hannah off at daycare and head to work. My routine at work consists of calling clients, organizing marketing and presenting marketing proposals, lining up builders to interview for our builder profile article, preparing for events, proof reading publications and ads, meetings, and so much more. If I happen to have an event that week my routine consist of flying, setting up, talking to tons of people while promoting our publications, tearing down, dinner, receptions, and flying home. On a typical day after work I spend most of my time with my husband and daughter. Usually my day concludes at 10pm.
My weekend routine usually consists of a lot of family time. The most important part of my life is my family. Since Mike and I are so busy during the week, we make sure that plenty of time is spent with Hannah and family members on the weekend.
Favorite Quote
“Life isn’t measured by how many breaths you take, but how many moments take your breath away.” The most amazing thing about this quote is that you truly understand the meaning when you hold your child for the first time.
