MY story

My name is Amelia but most people call me Millie.

Leadership

In high school, I was involved with student council, I was VP of KEY Club, VP of my class, president of the National Honor Society, and I was the alto saxophone section leader for 3 years.  I was an at-risk student tutor/mentor for 2 years and I taught dance to little kids at my studio for 4 years.  MYLead has always been a huge part of my life.  I was an ambassador in 2005 and returned the following year as a TA and all other years as a behind-the-scenes Programming Intern.  I am a brother of Kappa Kappa Psi at MSU; it is a National Honorary co-ed service fraternity for college bands and I love it so much.

Employment

I have two jobs: one at the MSU Music Building in the band office, and I also work at Potbelly Sandwich Works.

Academics

I am currently a Sophomore at Michigan State University where I'm studying Communicative Sciences and Disorders (Speech Pathology) with a specialization in Bioethics, Humanities, and Society.  I play the alto saxophone in the Spartan Marching Band and in the Spartan Brass. I graduated from Swartz Creek High School in 2007.

Daily routine

During the week in the fall, I go to work, class, marching band rehearsal, home to study and do homework and then eventually get to bed.  On home game Saturdays, I wake up at 5:30am to get ready and get to morning rehearsal.  After practice, I eat, get dressed, do the game-day band thing, and go out with my family. Sundays are made up of sleeping in, going to work, attending Kappa Kappa Psi meetings, MYLead Planning team conference calls, and late night homework. In the spring, my schedule is a bit more relaxed, but tis the season for Spartan Basketball.  I have a heavier class load, but more time to work on things since marching season is over.  I play at all of the home basketball and hockey games in the band and I love to be in the atmosphere of an at-home victory.  I'm 19 and I come from a family of 6 where all of my siblings' names start with the letter 'A', I drive a navy blue Buick Rendezvous, I love to dance, go on trips, and sit around with my friends until the wee hours of the morning. I also love peanut butter.
