MY Story
I started going to MYLead in 2005, and that is the year that I got hypnotized by the wonderful works of “stepping outside your comfort zone”. I went back to school after the conference feeling good about the difference I could make, and how I could change ME for the better. I started numerous clubs such as the Red Cross and student advisory board, and they’ve been going strong ever since. In 2006, I returned as a TA, and the fun and stupendousness have been flowing through my body ever since. I’ve been on the planning team, helping out with student recruitment, and recently I have been named the co-director of the PITAs, something I KNEW I was going to do once I left the conference as an ambassador. I can’t wait for this year’s conference.
Leadership
I am the assistant youth pastor at my church, as well as the choir director. I love to volunteer at the Red Cross. I hope to still be on the board in the MYLead conference in the future.
Employment
I am currently employed at Pilot gas station in Battle Creek. I love it there, it’s the best job I’ve ever had.
Academics
I graduated in the top 10 of my class in 2007 at Battle Creek Central High School. Currently I’m working on an associate’s in criminal justice, and in 2010 I hope to be in Minnesota working on a degree in pastoral studies with a minor in worship arts.
Daily routine
I have a wonderful family…two brothers and parents who are just in love with each other today as they were twenty years ago when they got married. I’m dating a wonderful guy, we’ve been together for a year now, and are planning a wedding sometime before I go away to college so he can come with me. ☺ I am VERY involved in community theatre, with lead roles in Steel Magnolias, Grease, and But Why Bump Off Barnaby? I LOVE to sing my heart out, especially in church. I spend about half of my life on the computer, mostly because the other half is spent talking on the phone. I tend to overwork myself quite a bit, but people love that about me.
